Pediatric Massage (ages 2 - 18)

It has been proven to have physiologic benefits, reduce stress, and provide

feedback that is vital in helping children form a strong and positive body image.

We have seven senses, the first we develop is the sense of touch.  Children who learn healthy touch and experience positive touch are more likely to have a sense of appropriate boundaries, a healthy self-esteem, and long-lasting intimate relationships as adults.

Children experience stress.  A child’s first day of school, a family illness, divorce, vacations, tests, and even finances.

Massage is a great stress reliever for Children.  Stress hormones that are chronically elevated will destroy healthy immune cells that fight tumors and viruses, and cause an unhealthy immune system. Keeping stress down will reduce stress hormones, which will allow the immune system to bounce back and keep doing its job of healing the body and keeping it healthy.

Children are happier and in a better mood. They appear more relaxed, calm and oftentimes fall asleep during massage.

After a 15-minute massage, preschoolers have shown to perform better on tests of their intellectual and manual skills. They tend to sleep better, tend to be less overactive, and have better behavior.

Teens that struggle with growing pains of being an adolescence, massage helps to stable the hormones and can relieve anxiety.  Having a massage therapist that gives them safe, unconditional touch can increase their feelings of self-acceptance and self- confidence.

Massage therapy for children can ease both physical symptoms, as well as, emotional discomforts associated with pediatric medical conditions.

Healing touch can also provide comfort, relaxation, reduction of stress hormones and relief from chronic conditions such as asthma, nausea, constipation and muscle aches.

Massage has shown improvement in; many learning disabilities, emotional problems, phobias, test anxieties, physical problems, tension headaches, and burn pain.

Massage can help teenagers cope with stress, become more comfortable in their changing bodies, and to learn how to care for their bodies in a healthy way.
